Damon Stephenson is on the brink of securing a victory at the 2025 Zigcrete QLD PGA Associate Championship held at Windaroo Lakes. Leading by two shots after the first round and three shots after the second, Stephenson will enter Thursday’s final round with a four-stroke lead following his 1-under-par 72 performance today.

His closest competitors are fellow Queenslander Dylan Knox, who recorded the best score in round three with a 69, and Lachlan Chamberlain from ACT, who slipped back slightly with a 73.

Stephenson’s third round was marked by two birdies and one bogey, bringing him to an 11-under for the tournament. He commented on his position saying, “I’m in a good position,” adding that he plans to maintain his current strategy. “Nothing’s going to change in terms of prep. Just go home, recover, rest up and a bit of a later tee time so a bit more sleep and get back out here tomorrow.”

Knox made significant progress with a back nine score of 4-under 33. Initially trailing Stephenson by six shots after round one, he now has four strokes to catch up on the final day. Reflecting on his game, Knox said, “I was just giving myself a lot of birdie looks and chances and that’s all I can really ask for out there.” He credited his improved iron play as a key factor in his performance.

The championship is supported by Brisbane-based concreting company Zigcrete and offers minimum total prize money of $47,500. It is considered one of the most prestigious tournaments for aspiring PGA Professionals.
