Marc Leishman concluded his final round at The 153rd Open Championship with a score of 75, placing him tied for 52nd. Reflecting on his performance, Leishman remarked, “Some days you have it, and some days you don’t. Today I didn’t.” His round at Royal Portrush included five bogeys and two birdies.

“You have days like that sometimes, and obviously you don’t want them to be on Sunday of a British Open. We’d like to have had a better score but didn’t,” he added. Leishman noted his struggle with the par-5s, playing them in 2-under for the week and ranking 77th in the field. He also cited slow starts as an obstacle to climbing the leaderboard.

“I didn’t start very well any round. Like today, I had to get off to a good start and didn’t, and sort of everything seemed a little bit out of reach and just struggled after that,” he explained.

Despite driver issues earlier in the year, Leishman found some positives. “I finally found one which is good. I’ll take that as a positive this week,” he said about his new driver.

Leishman plans to participate in the LIV Golf League’s UK event next week after some downtime in Dublin with his family.

At the top of the leaderboard, Scottie Scheffler secured victory by finishing at 17-under, four shots ahead of Harris English. Rory McIlroy’s challenge ended with a double bogey after peaking at 10-under through nine holes. Chris Gotterup completed an all-American podium finish with a score of 12-under.

Scheffler’s win marks his fourth major title in 39 months, leaving only the US Open title needed for a career grand slam. “It’s a very special feeling; it takes a lot of work to get to this point in my career,” Scheffler commented on his achievement.

Australasian scores included Marc Leishman tied for 52nd while others such as Jason Day and Daniel Hillier missed the cut.
