Victorian golfer Marc Leishman has secured his spot in the upcoming US Open at Oakmont Country Club after a challenging qualifying round. The event, known as Golf’s Longest Day, required more than 36 holes of play.

Leishman participated in the Final Qualifying at Woodmont Country Club’s North Course with fellow Australians Karl Vilips and Lucas Herbert from Ripper GC. He finished with scores of 70-69, totaling 3-under par, which tied him for third place alongside Sebastian Munoz and Bryan Lee. This result led to a three-for-two playoff.

The decisive moment occurred on Woodmont’s par-3 sixth hole. Leishman’s tee shot landed six feet from the hole. After Munoz missed a 10-foot par putt, Leishman needed only two putts to secure his qualification.

Leishman will join Cam Davis, Jason Day, Min Woo Lee, Adam Scott, and Cameron Smith at this year’s third major tournament. Additionally, he has already confirmed his participation in The Open Championship at Royal Portrush due to his performance at the Australian Open.
