Lucas Herbert emerged as Australia’s leading golfer after securing a five-stroke victory at the International Series Japan. This win marks his first Asian Tour title and his sixth career win overall. Herbert’s performance included matching the course record with a 9-under 62 and achieving two eagles in his final four holes, which led him to share the lead entering the final round.

Herbert briefly lost the lead early on Sunday but regained it by making an eagle on the 72nd hole, sealing his commanding victory. “Lucas Herbert’s sixth career win came after some late-night shopping for a putter in Korea,” noted Tony Webeck via PGA of Australia.

Other Australian golfers also had noteworthy performances. Stephanie Kyriacou tied for fifth at the Mizuho Americas Open, marking her second consecutive top-six finish. Kelsey Bennett achieved her third consecutive top-10 finish on the Ladies European Tour.

The focus now shifts to the upcoming US PGA Championship, where seven Australians and New Zealand’s Ryan Fox will compete. Cameron Smith returns to major competition following a tie for seventh at LIV Golf Korea. Kelsey Bennett is currently ranked 225th in the Rolex Women’s World Golf Ranking due to her consistent performances.

Marc Leishman won at LIV Golf Miami and is currently 10th in the LIV Golf individual standings. Minjee Lee secured a tie for 15th at the Mizuho Americas Open, marking her sixth top-15 finish this season. Jason Day prepares for his return to Quail Hollow, while Hannah Green holds eighth place in the Rolex Women’s World Golf Ranking.

Stephanie Kyriacou has moved into the top 40 of the Rolex Women’s World Golf Ranking after another strong performance. Karl Vilips is set to make his debut at Quail Hollow for the US PGA Championship. Min Woo Lee finished tied for 51st at the Truist Championship and is ranked 27th globally.

Overall, Lucas Herbert leads Australia’s golf rankings, supported by recent strong performances from other Australian players.
