Gavin Fairfax emerged victorious at the PIMS Mackay Festival of Golf Pro-Am, part of the adidas PGA Pro-Am Series. The Queenslander secured his first pro-am title for 2025 with rounds of 63 and 67, totaling 12-under-par over two days. Lincoln Tighe from New South Wales delivered a remarkable final round, shooting a 9-under-par 62 to finish just one shot behind Fairfax.

The event was a highlight in the celebrations marking Mackay Golf Club’s centenary and featured many regulars from the Challenger PGA Tour of Australasia. Amateur Josh Reid tied for seventh after an impressive second-round score of 65.

Fairfax maintained his lead by starting day two with birdies on the first and third holes while James Gibellini, his closest competitor after day one, fell back. “I think I was 3-under through nine,” said Fairfax. “On the back nine, I kind of knew where I sat so I played away from a few pins.”

Andrew Campbell leads the North Queensland Series standings sponsored by Mackay Regional Council at 15-under-par, ahead of Brendan Smith and Lachlan Aylen.

In related events, Andrew Campbell claimed victory at the CMR Recycling Sarina Golf Club Pro-Am with an overall score of 11-under-par. Campbell hopes to replicate his previous success in winning the North Queensland Series prize.

Connor McDade won his first event of the year at the Mercedes-Benz Tropics Golf Club Pro-Am with rounds of 66 and 65, finishing at 13-under-par. “It’s a nice hot start to the Troppo Tour,” McDade commented on his performance.

The North Queensland swing will conclude with the Roy Powell Security Pioneer Valley Pro-Am this Sunday.
