Childhood friends Cody Davis and Josh Edgar won the Queensland PGA Foursomes Championship at Kooralbyn Valley Resort after overcoming an 11-shot deficit between rounds.

Kooralbyn Valley hosted the event for the 11th time, marking its fourth consecutive year as venue. The Desmond Muirhead-designed course presented challenges for players during the morning session.

Three teams were tied for the lead at 3-over par going into the afternoon round. Davis and Edgar trailed by five shots after posting an 8-over 80 in their first round. In the second round, they recovered with a score of 3-under 69, finishing one stroke ahead of New South Wales pair Dylan Stollery and Andrew Brennan, who shot a 71.

“We hit the ball really well in the afternoon and we even had three three-putts in our round of 69,” said Davis, who is Assistant Professional at Surfers Paradise Golf Club.

“It was great to spend some time together because it has been few and far between over recent years,” Edgar added.

“No doubt that enjoyment showed in the way we played.”

Davis and Edgar now appear on an honour board alongside past winners such as Ian Baker-Finch and Jeff Woodland, Terry and John Price, Scott Hend and Luke Arnott, and Jeff Senior and Peter McWhinney.

The Queensland PGA Associate Foursomes Championship was held alongside the main event. Four teams finished tied at 9-over par: Adam Jansz and Jack Jones, Minami Inoue and Wade Edwards, Drew Herbert and Jayke Merrell, along with defending champions Jack Wright and Reilly Wunderlich.
