Back-to-back weeks of senior major championships will feature 12 Australians and two New Zealanders at the 2025 Senior PGA Championship held at Congressional Country Club. The club, which hosted the US Open in 1964, 1997, and 2011, was selected by the PGA of America to host eight championships over two decades. The first was the 2022 KPMG Women’s PGA Championship won by In Gee Chun.

Brendan Jones, Scott Hend, Andre Stolz, and Mick Smith are among those competing. Jones is making his senior major championship debut this week after earning his Champions Tour card at Qualifying School last year. Reflecting on his career shift due to injury and illness on the Asian Tour, Jones stated: “I was injured, I was sick, and then you get to 50 and go, well, this is too hard.” He added that playing with golfers he watched growing up is “going to be pretty cool.”

The event details include a prize pool of $3.5 million. It will be broadcast live on Fox Sports and Kayo across various time slots from Friday through Monday.

Notable players include Steven Alker from New Zealand who has nine PGA TOUR Champions wins including a victory in the 2022 Senior PGA. Other competitors like Robert Allenby and Stuart Appleby have had varied performances in past tournaments but continue to vie for top positions.

Andre Stolz enters as the reigning PGA Legends Tour Order of Merit winner. Richard Green comes off a strong performance with second-place finishes in both the 2024 Senior PGA and Senior Open.
