Seventeen Australians and two New Zealanders are set to compete in two major golf championships in the United States this week. The 107th US PGA Championship will be held at the Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, North Carolina, while the senior circuit’s first major of 2025, the Regions Tradition, takes place in Birmingham, Alabama.

The tournament marks a decade since Jason Day became the fifth Australian to win the Wanamaker Trophy. This year, Australians Jason Day, Cam Davis, Min Woo Lee, Adam Scott, Cameron Smith, Elvis Smylie, and Karl Vilips will participate alongside New Zealand’s Ryan Fox. Fox was admitted into the field following his victory at the ONEflight Myrtle Beach Classic.

Elvis Smylie received a special exemption to play his second major last week. Meanwhile, Karl Vilips secured his first professional major appearance by winning the Puerto Rico Open in March. Their coach Col Swatton commented on Australia’s golfing talent: “We keep on producing great talent and I think that’s a tribute to the system,” adding that it shows Australia is competitive globally.

In Birmingham, 10 Australians and New Zealander Steven Alker will compete at Greystone Golf and Country Club for the Regions Tradition title. This year sees newcomers Greg Chalmers, David Bransdon, Cameron Percy, and Michael Wright participating for their first time.

Both events will be broadcast live on Fox Sports and Kayo. Coverage of Round 1 of the US PGA Championship begins at 3 am Friday morning on Fox Sports 503; coverage of Regions Tradition starts at 5 am Friday morning on Fox Sports 505.
