With the conclusion of the Amundi Evian Championship, a shift in Australian golf power dynamics has become evident. Three Australians—Gabriela Ruffels, Minjee Lee, and Grace Kim—were within one stroke of the lead heading into the final round of this major tournament.

Grace Kim emerged as the latest major champion with an extraordinary finish that will be remembered in Australian golf history. This victory marks five out of six recent major championship wins by Australian women on the LPGA Tour. It is also the first time since Karrie Webb in 2001 that consecutive majors have been won by Australians, following Minjee Lee’s KPMG Women’s PGA win.

The top two spots on the Australian Golf Power Rankings are now held by women. Gabriela Ruffels made a significant impact at the Amundi Evian Championship with a 5-under 66 in Round 3, ultimately tying for ninth place and achieving her best finish in a major.

Min Woo Lee prepared for The Open Championship after attending events like Formula 1 and Wimbledon. Hannah Green missed the cut at the Amundi Evian Championship and fell out of the top 10 in the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings for the first time in over a year.

Marc Leishman faced challenges at Valderrama but will join his teammates at The Open Championship. Stephanie Kyriacou earned a share of 14th place at Evian with her seventh top-20 finish this year. Jason Day took time off after missing the cut at John Deere Classic to prepare for The Open Championship.

Lucas Herbert showed improvement towards The Open after competing at LIV Golf Andalucia. Adam Scott led Australians at Genesis Scottish Open, finishing tied for 17th.

Grace Kim’s remarkable victory involved birdies on holes 15 and 16, an eagle on hole 18 to force a playoff, followed by another eagle to secure her win against Jeeno Thitikul. She rose significantly in world rankings to No.25.

Minjee Lee narrowly missed participating in a playoff due to an initial setback but managed to improve her position during subsequent rounds, currently ranked No.5 globally.

The Australian Golf Power Rankings are compiled based on input from members of Australia’s golf media team.
