Adam Scott had Australian golf fans on edge during the US Open as he vied for a second major championship. For much of the tournament, Scott was tied for the lead early in the back nine at Oakmont Country Club. However, missed fairways caused him to drop five shots in his final five holes, pushing him out of the top 10.

The women’s game is also in focus this week with Hannah Green, Minjee Lee, and Stephanie Kyriacou competing at the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship, aiming for victory and a boost in the Power Rankings.

Kelsey Bennett has made notable progress after securing a tie for 10th at the Hulencourt Women’s Open, marking her fourth top-10 finish on the Ladies European Tour this season. This performance helped her rise to 20th on the LET Order of Merit and seven spots in the Rolex Women’s World Golf Ranking.

Stephanie Kyriacou finished 39th at the Meijer LPGA Classic and remains third-highest among Australians in global rankings. Minjee Lee achieved a tie for 14th at the same event, adding to her record of seven top-15 finishes from 11 starts this year despite dropping to No.24 globally.

Min Woo Lee continues to face challenges following his missed cut at Oakmont after winning the Texas Children’s Houston Open earlier this year. Meanwhile, Jason Day secured a tie for 23rd at Oakmont, maintaining a strong performance in majors despite missing cuts elsewhere.

Karl Vilips did not qualify for the US Open and is an alternate for this week’s Travelers Championship. Hannah Green tied for 12th as Australia’s best performer at the US Women’s Open but struggled initially at Meijer LPGA Classic before recovering with rounds of 68.

Marc Leishman impressed after qualifying for LIV Golf Virginia and tied for 10th there; he began Oakmont’s final round tied for 11th but faced tough conditions. Adam Scott found himself competing closely again yet finished tied 12th due to difficulties with rough terrain.

Lucas Herbert leads current Australian Golf Power Rankings with three top-five finishes on LIV Golf in 2025 alongside a victory on Asian Tour’s International Series Japan. He anticipates continuing his form as LIV Golf season resumes next week.

The Australian Golf Power Rankings are compiled based on insights from members of Australia’s golf media team.
