Australian golfers have seen notable achievements across international tours this season, including victories in two LPGA majors, two PGA TOUR events, a LIV Golf tournament, and an Asian Tour title. However, the past week reflected some of the challenges that come with a long season.
The LPGA players from Australia had a break following the final major championship of the year. In men’s golf, only one out of three Australians who qualified for the FedExCup Playoffs advanced past the first round at the FedEx St Jude Championship. The Ripper GC team finished tied for eighth in the teams event at LIV Golf Chicago.
David Micheluzzi finished tied for 10th in Scotland as preparations continue on the DP World Tour. Nine Australian players are set to compete as the LPGA Tour resumes with The Standard Portland Classic.
The latest Australian Golf Power Rankings list highlights ten standout performers:
Min Woo Lee completed his PGA TOUR season by earning his first win and playing a quick final round at the FedEx St Jude Championship. He dropped from 50th to 57th in the FedEx Cup standings.
Karl Vilips reflected on his rookie PGA TOUR season, which included a win at the Puerto Rico Open after moving up from college golf within just over a year.
Karis Davidson has moved up nearly 200 spots in the Rolex Women’s World Golf Ranking during this LPGA season and is currently ranked 70th in Race to CME Globe standings after three top-25 finishes.
Jason Day remains active in the FedExCup Playoffs but dropped to 44th after tying for 56th at St Jude. He will need a strong result at BMW Championship to reach the top 30 and qualify for TOUR Championship.
Lucas Herbert was tied for 25th at LIV Golf Chicago and has achieved three top-five finishes on LIV Golf this season along with an Asian Tour victory in Japan.
Adam Scott is taking time off after not qualifying for FedExCup Playoffs for only the second time in his career. His next appearance is likely at BMW PGA Championship next month in London.
Stephanie Kyriacou was top Australian at AIG Women’s Open and will return next week at CPKC Women’s Open in Canada.
Marc Leishman continued as Ripper GC’s leading performer with another solid finish at LIV Golf Chicago. He has been inside top 15 three times since winning LIV Golf Miami and stands tenth individually on this year’s LIV Golf circuit.
Grace Kim returns to competition as one of nine Australians contesting The Standard Portland Classic. She won Amundi Evian Championship earlier this year and holds 27th place on Rolex Women’s World Golf Ranking.
Minjee Lee leads these rankings following her KPMG Women’s PGA Championship win and will compete again soon at CPKC Women’s Open. She is second behind Jeeno Thitikul in Race to CME Globe standings and recently received Rolex ANNIKA Major Award recognition.
