Two Australian golfers, Cameron Percy and Justice Bosio, narrowly missed securing victories in their respective tournaments over the weekend. Percy, from Victoria, and Bosio, from Queensland, both lost in playoffs on the PGA TOUR Champions and Ladies European Tour (LET) Access Series.

Cameron Percy finished tied for second at the Principal Charity Classic in Iowa. This marks his third top-10 finish this year as he continues to pursue his first Tour victory. He ended the tournament level with Søren Kjeldsen and Miguel Angel Jiménez at 17-under par but was defeated by a birdie from Jiménez on the first playoff hole.

Justice Bosio, a rookie professional, also came close to a maiden victory at the Santander Golf Tour – AVILA event. She entered the final round tied for the lead but was overtaken by Mexico’s Alejandra Llaneza after Llaneza shot a 64. The event concluded with another three-way playoff which Llaneza won with a birdie on the first extra hole.

Fellow Australians Stephanie Bunque and Abbie Teasdale shared eighth place at four-under par, finishing five shots behind Bosio.

Elsewhere in women’s golf, West Australian Hannah Green achieved her best finish at the US Women’s Open by tying for 12th place at one-under par. She was six shots behind eventual winner Maja Stark. Reflecting on her performance, Green stated: “I felt like I hit the ball really well… The bogeys on 16 and 17 kind of hurt, but overall, a solid week.”

She added: “It was nice to build on some form though; we obviously have KPMG (Women’s PGA Championship) coming up soon as well; hopefully I can take it into those events.”
