It was a challenging week for Australian golfers, with many top players taking a break following the Amundi Evian Championship. Marc Leishman was the only Australian to complete all four rounds of The Open Championship.
Leishman, playing The Open for the first time since 2022, started the final round at Royal Portrush tied for 22nd but finished tied for 52nd after shooting 4-over. Despite this, he moved up 53 spots in the Official World Golf Ranking.
Jason Scrivener from Western Australia tied for eighth at the Barracuda Championship and rose 39 places in the world ranking. Meanwhile, Minjee Lee, Hannah Green, and Grace Kim maintained their positions within the top 25 of the Rolex Women’s World Golf Ranking.
Gabriela Ruffels led after 54 holes at the Evian Championship and finished tied for ninth, marking her best result in a major championship. She is one of ten Australians competing in this week’s ISPS HANDA Women’s Scottish Open.
Min Woo Lee’s tie for 13th at the Rocket Classic remains his only top-20 finish since winning his first PGA TOUR event in March. He missed the cut at Portrush with rounds of 74-73.
Hannah Green decided to skip the Women’s Scottish Open to prepare for next week’s AIG Women’s Open. Her tie for 12th at the US Women’s Open is her sole top-30 finish in recent starts.
Stephanie Kyriacou secured a share of 14th place at Evian and continues to rank 39th globally.
Jason Day missed the cut by a narrow margin at Royal Portrush, concluding his men’s majors season with two missed cuts. He remains Australia’s highest-ranked male player at No.32.
Marc Leishman demonstrated strong links golf skills at The Open, finishing inside the top 25 before falling back on the final day. He will compete in this week’s LIV Golf UK event.
Lucas Herbert began well but could not maintain his performance and missed The Open cut. He aims to recover at LIV Golf UK with Ripper GC.
Adam Scott showed promise at the Scottish Open but struggled during his 25th appearance at The Open Championship, missing the cut after an early double-bogey on day two.
Grace Kim recently became a major champion by winning the Amundi Evian Championship in a playoff and will compete as a major champion this week.
Minjee Lee enters the Women’s Scottish Open after winning the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship and securing third place at Evian. She has consistently finished in the top 20 over recent years in Scotland.
