Jason Scrivener achieved his career-best finish on the PGA TOUR at the Barracuda Championship in California. Although he preferred to be competing at Royal Portrush, Scrivener made the most of his opportunity stateside. He scored 25 points in rounds two and three of the Modified Stableford format, entering the final round tied for seventh place, six points behind the leader.

Despite four bogeys on the front nine hindering his chances for a win, Scrivener’s closing birdie earned him two additional points, moving him into the top 10. This result surpasses his previous best finish of a tie for 10th alongside Jason Day at the 2022 Zurich Classic of New Orleans.

For other Australian golfers, it was a quiet week. Marc Leishman was the only Australian to complete all four rounds at The Open Championship but ended with a tie for 52nd after struggling in the final round. “Some days you have it, and some days you don’t,” Leishman said about his performance that included multiple bogeys and a double-bogey.

Leishman identified challenges with par-5 holes as a significant factor in his performance and acknowledged issues with his driver as part of this year’s difficulties. Despite these setbacks, he expressed optimism about finding a driver he liked during this tournament.
