Adam Scott is poised to solidify his standing in Australian golf history as he enters the final round of the US Open at Oakmont Country Club. Heavy rain had delayed Round 2, but conditions improved for Round 3, allowing Scott to shoot a 3-under 67. This score places him just one shot behind leader Sam Burns and sets up a showdown in the final group.

Scott’s performance has put him in a strong position to add another major title to his resume, which already includes the 2013 Masters. A victory would make him only the fourth Australian male with multiple major championships and join an elite list of players who have won both the Masters and US Open.

Reflecting on his potential win, Scott stated, “It would be super fulfilling,” acknowledging that such opportunities do not come by chance. He added, “If I were to come away with it tomorrow, it would be a hell of a round of golf and an exclamation point on my career.”

Meanwhile, fellow Australian Marc Leishman also performed well in Round 3 with a score of 2-under 68. Leishman expressed satisfaction with his play after qualifying for the tournament through Final Qualifying. “There’s nothing bad about contending in a major,” he said.

Jason Day will start the final round tied for 21st after shooting a 2-over 72. The final round coverage will be available from 1am-9am AEST on Fox Sports and Kayo Sports.
